Jack Hatcher

Jack Hatcher

Jack Hatcher is a senior at GWU, majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a passion for using community-driven and scientific solutions to create positive change. Throughout his time at GWU, Jack has collaborated with Miriam's Kitchen, spearheaded a dedicated team of volunteers for A Wider Circle, and led an Engineers Without Borders project with the goal of designing, fundraising, and constructing a one-of-a-kind learning center in Northern Uganda. Jack's commitment to community service is deeply ingrained in both his personal and professional ethos, reflecting his dedication to giving back through various channels, both direct and indirect.

Abigail Lam

Abigail Lam

Abby Lam is a junior majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Statistics and is proud to serve as a student leader with Little Friends for Peace (LFFP) through EngageDC. She first began serving her community in junior high school where she volunteered at a donation center and senior center, and now serves through LFFP's mission of promoting peace education and non-violent conflict resolution. Her major has exposed her to many social issues and community needs, motivating her to serve to address these issues and take actionable steps toward improving her community.

Brooke Moses

Brooke Moses

Brooke Moses is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Entrepreneurship & Innovation with a micro-minor in Health Equity. She is passionate about making an equitable environment for all while placing an emphasis on character-building. Brooke’s volunteer experience as The George Washington University student leader for “Life Pieces to Masterpieces” has allowed her to pour into adolescent males - while simultaneously planting seeds that will cultivate their character and build leadership skills for the future.

Emily Swanson

Emily Swanson

Emily Swanson is a third-year student majoring in Organizational Sciences and minoring in Human Services and Social Justice. She served as a participant and is now a leader at Miriam’s Kitchen through engageDC. Additionally, she has logged over 300 community service hours throughout her time at GW and earned the silver Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2023.

Sanjana Anand

Sanjana Anand

Meet Sanjana Anand, a sophomore majoring in neuroscience and minoring in creative writing. She has volunteered with LAYC for a year and is excited to take on the role of an engageDC student leader. Sanjana looks forward to recruiting volunteers and guiding students to make an impact in DC communities through a shared enthusiasm and passion for civic engagement.

Mykala Bledsoe

Mykala Bledsoe 

Mykala Bledsoe is a sophomore majoring in Sociology and is a co-site leader for Little Friends for Peace with EngageDC. On campus, Mykala also works in the Office of Advocacy and Support as a Student Support Assistant, is a peer advisor for the UHP, and is a member of the inaugural Horizons Social Justice Retreat. Her passions and research are centered around trauma-informed approaches to community harm reduction for substance abuse and nonviolence, as well as her cat Freya.

Karilyn Domer

Karilyn Domer 

Karilyn Domer is a senior majoring in International Affairs with a minor in Economics and is the undergraduate student leader with ECDC African Community Center. She seeks to make a positive difference in the community by assisting ECDC’s employment team as they help refugees find job opportunities, develop job skills, and integrate into the workforce. She previously worked with A Wider Circle through GW’s EngageDC program, where she researched the impacts of financial literacy education.

Nicholas Gigante

Nicholas Gigante

Nicholas is a second-year political science major who has been serving with EngageDC at the Latino Student Fund since he first came to GW. His leadership of the site is driven by the belief that the key to creating effective, long-term change, regardless of scale, is to engage directly with the community, and that understanding their needs and goals, especially with topics like education, is fundamental not only to our own success but that of our future generations as well, is crucial to achieving that change, something LSF excels in.

Amy Hatcher

Amy Hatcher 

Amy Hatcher is a third-year student at George Washington University studying biology and criminal justice. She has been very involved in civic engagement since high school, often volunteering for events such as clothing drives and trunk-or-treats with a local organization. This passion has led her to serve as a volunteer for ArtReach, which allowed her to become an EngageDC site lead for ArtReach.
