Annual events are opportunities for students, faculty and staff to engage in service on a one-time basis. Individuals or groups can participate in signature events which provide a great opportunity to meet new people or strengthen a group or team while impacting the community!
We realize the limits of what we can achieve in one day. Our hope is that all participants will understand challenges facing Washington, DC and will take advantage of our other ongoing service opportunitiesto make a deeper impact.
César Chávez, Dolores Huerta and Larry Itliong (CHI) Day is an annual day of celebration and call to action that honors the life, legacy and values of César Chávez, Dolores Huerta and Larry Itliong, our foremost farm workers and human rights activists.
Convocation and Welcome Day of Service is the official welcome event for the incoming class. President LeBlanc, Provost Blake, faculty, staff and student leaders will join all first-year students for a day filled with engaging speakers, direct service projects, reflection and fun.
Give-A-Gift is a signature event and tradition where members of the GW community provide holiday gifts to families in Washington, D.C. If unable to collect physical gifts due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will host a virtual gift campaign.
As part of the GW celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members are invited to participate in a day of service, leadership development and interfaith dialogue. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, MLK Day of Service and Leadership 2022 will take place virtually on Monday, January 17.
Veteran Day of Service brings together military-affiliated and civilian populations to serve those who have served, connect GW students, faculty and staff with the larger community, and elevate communities across the D.C. Metro region.
