DO I NEED A COMMUNITY PARTNER?

Yes, all projects proposals must have a community partner organization. You will need to submit a Letter of Support with your application. If you're having trouble finding a partner, let us know!

CAN GRADUATE OR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS APPLY?

Yes, all of our opportunities are open to International students as well! Graduate students are not eligible for Projects for Peace and the Julian Clement Chase Prize for Community Impact in DC.

The deadlines to apply for the 2024-25 academic year are:

Public Service Grant Commission

The Public Service Grant Commission encourages and cultivates student-led social innovation by providing institutional support to individuals and organizations to carry out innovative, feasible community service programs and ideas.

The Public Service Grant (PSGC) is awarded 4 times each academic year.

PSGC I (Fall 2024): September 8, 2024
PSGC II (Fall 2024): November 3, 2024
PSGC III (Spring 2025)February 7, 2025
PSGC IV (Spring 2025)March 7, 2025

*You must have a community partner onboard and the projects must be primarily based in the DC-metropolitan  area.

Clinton Global Initiative Entrepreneurship Program

Clinton Global Initiative Entrepreneurship Program and Commitment Maker Challenge allows GW students to compete for funding to support their CGI U Commitments to Action. For those who have been accepted to CGI U, awards are available to supplement travel to the annual Clinton Global Initiative University gathering.

Eco-Equity Challenge

The Office of Sustainability and the Nashman Center provide support for GW students in their social entrepreneurial efforts to address environmental and social justice issues in Washington, DC.

Deadline: November 3, 2024

Projects for Peace

Projects for Peace invites undergraduates at US colleges and universities to design grassroots projects that promote peace and address the root causes of conflict and get $10,000 for the summer project.

Deadline: November 3, 2024

Knapp Fellowship for Entrepreneurial Service-Learning

Knapp Fellows receive up to $10,000 to support their ideas to combine scholarship with action. Students, working with a faculty advisor and one or more community partners, spend one year conducting inquiry and implementing their idea. Proposals due in May, annually.

Deadline: May 23, 2025

Julian Clement Chase Prize for Community Impact

The Julian Clement Chase Prize for Community Impact in the District of Columbia differs from other Nashman Center student honors in that it is the only monetary prize that recognizes specific work completed. While Nashman Center student community engagement projects already are strong in achieving positive impact with DC, this example will help to tip the balance further in favor of real-world outcome and completion in student projects.
