Exhibitions
Since 2005, ArtReach has curated and hosted exhibitions in The Community Gallery at THEARC that supported and highlighted the work of both established and emerging artists. We’ve hosted local organizations, schools, group and solo exhibitions, with a special focus on artists and groups East of the River. Our goal is to engage community residents in a wide range of exhibitions and art experiences for all ages.
Past Exhibitions
ArtReach GW Student Exhibition, Fall 2023 in Gallery 102, "Creating Our Future":
For the first time, ArtReach hosted its Fall 2023 student exhibition in GW Corcoran’s Gallery 102. Students explored a range of art mediums, methods, and concepts through six different courses. Fall courses include: Developing Young Artists, Intro to Character Design, Digital Design II, Art & Action, Archi-builder and Portfolio Development from conceptualizing and building museums to building fine arts skill; and exploring how art can be used as a tool to communicate messages of unity, peace, and leadership. Classes were led by local artists Simone Agoussoye, Courtney Davis (ArtReach Alum), Leah Young (GW Corcoran College of the Arts and Design Alum) and SWAG Works DC.
ArtReach GW Student Exhibition, Spring 2022,“Seeing in a New Light”:
The ArtReach GW Community Gallery at THEARC presents artwork from students who participated in Spring 2022 programs. In the programs conducted fully via Zoom, students explored the architecture design process with Washington Architectural Foundation, art therapy workshops with graduate students from George Washington University’s Art Therapy program, clay with District Clay Center, and the world of digital illustration and fine arts with local professional artists.
This semester was extremely unique, learning to navigate the art making process in a completely virtual setting. Despite the challenges this semester brought, students and teachers remained dedicated to their projects and used their experiences to inspire creativity.
