GW Responds

GW Responds is an initiative founded during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy to allow students the opportunity to give back when areas in the U.S. are devastated by natural disasters. The day GW reopened its doors after Hurricane Sandy, students representing multiple campus organizations came together, empowered to lend support to those communities impacted by the storm. In the true GW spirit of global citizenship and responsibility, GW mobilized to launch a response to the disaster.

A student-led, university-supported initiative, GW Responds’ purpose is to:

  • Raise awareness of local and global critical disasters
  • Empower GW students to mobilize and serve
  • Provide relief to affected communities

Hurricane Sandy Relief was the first of many missions undertaken by this new student team.
