The Honey W. Nashman Center Prize for Community Engaged Research

The GW Research Showcase, held annually in April, invites GW undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students to showcase their work.

The Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service sponsors a special prize at this event for community engaged research projects. Community engaged research is inquiry that is aimed at informing solutions to benefit the community, through collaboration with community members.

Ideally, community members are engaged as partners in all stages of the research process: determining the research question and inquiry method(s), data collection, interpreting results and reporting findings. At minimum, a community engaged research project should involve a partner organization or community leader in significant consultation and decision-making about the project.

Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for this prize. Two winners will be chosen: First prize ($300) and second prize ($200).

All students completing community engaged research or community-based participatory research projects are encouraged to share them on the Nashman Center’s Givepulse platform. Learn more.
