GW Responds
GW Responds is a student lead initiative within the Nashman Center to aid those affected by disasters. GW Responds was founded during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy to allow students the opportunity to give back when areas in the U.S. and abroad are devastated by natural disasters. The day GW reopened its doors after Hurricane Sandy, students representing multiple campus organizations came together, empowered to lend support to those communities impacted by the storm. In the true GW spirit of global citizenship and responsibility, GW mobilized to launch a response to the disaster.
A student-led, university-supported initiative, GW Responds’ purpose is to:
- Raise awareness of local and global critical disasters;
- Empower GW students to mobilize and serve;
- Provide relief to affected communities.
