Newman Civic Fellow 2020

Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education, has announced the students who will make up the organization’s 2020 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows. The 2020 cohort—the largest group of Newman Civic Fellows to date—comprises 290 students from 39 states, Washington, D.C., Greece, Lebanon, and Mexico.

The Newman Civic Fellowship is a yearlong program for students from Campus Compact member institutions. The students selected for the fellowship are leaders on their campuses who demonstrate a commitment to finding solutions for challenges facing communities locally, nationally, and internationally.

GW student Nneka Onyekwuluje was named a 2020 fellow.

Nneka Onyekwuluje is a Junior from Covington Georgia, double majoring in International Affairs and Africana Studies. She works as a Community Engagement Scholar at the Nashman Center and connects students with opportunities to get involved in community service throughout the DC area. She also works with the M.H.I Street Program where she helps inform youth from Wards 7 and 8 of the importance of mental health through various embedded education curriculums. Nneka is passionate about civil rights and social justice and hopes to become an attorney after graduation.
